Overview
A showcase of Emirati musical talent, this recital series presents a variety of programmes spanning classical and traditional Arabic repertoire, intricate compositions and contemporary works. Mezzo-soprano Fatima Al Hashimi, accompanied by pianist Ina Charelli, brings warmth and lyricism to a programme that highlights both her expressive voice and the piano’s sensitive accompaniment. Oud virtuosos Saif Al Naqbi and Mubarak Al Dhaheri, joined by qanun player Noura Al Marzouqi, perform in a programme presented in collaboration with Beit Al Oud, celebrating the richness and heritage of Arabic music. Cellist Elham Al Marzouqi, the UAE’s first professional female Emirati cellist, performs works ranging from classical masterpieces to contemporary compositions, showcasing the cello’s expressive depth and resonant tone.
Each recital offers an intimate and engaging experience, highlighting the technical mastery, musical sensitivity and expressive richness of Emirati artistry.

Oud virtuosos Saif Al Naqbi and Mubarak Al Dhaheri are joined by qanun player Noura Al Mazrouei, all drawing on their training and experience at Beit Al Oud, Abu Dhabi. In this programme, they present a selection of works weaving together classical and traditional Arabic repertoire, highlighting the intricate textures and expressive qualities of the oud and qanun. Alternating between virtuosic passages and lyrical melodies, the musicians demonstrate their technical mastery and deep understanding of the region’s musical heritage, creating a performance that is both nuanced and captivating. Through each piece, they convey the richness, emotion and storytelling inherent in Arabic music, offering audiences an immersive and memorable musical experience.

Bait Al Oud
Established in 2008, Bait Al Oud in Abu Dhabi is a premier institute dedicated to preserving, teaching and celebrating the rich heritage of Arabic music. Founded under the guidance of oud master Naseer Shamma, the centre offers comprehensive programmes in oud, qanun, voice and other traditional instruments, combining practical training with music theory and performance.
Bait Al Oud also trains artisans in oud craftsmanship, ensuring the continuation of this revered instrument-making tradition. Its Arabic choir programme nurtures vocal ensembles in classical and contemporary Arab repertoire, while diploma courses provide rigorous, performance-focused study for aspiring professional musicians.
As both an educational hub and a cultural centre, Bait Al Oud plays a vital role in sustaining the region’s musical traditions, fostering new talent and promoting Arabic music locally and internationally. Its students and alumni have gone on to perform on major stages, helping to share the beauty and depth of Arabic music with audiences around the world.
Dr Noura Al Mazrouei
Qanun
Dr Noura Al Mazrouei is a writer and qanun player whose work explores the intersection of music, culture and wellbeing. She holds a PhD in Gulf Studies from the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies at the University of Exeter (UK), a Master’s degree in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Arizona and a diploma in art therapy.
Her writing focuses on culture and the arts and has been published in journals and newspapers including Al-Turath,Music Research Journal, Al Ittihad, Al Khaleej, and GulfNews. She is the author of The History of UAE–Saudi Relations, which received the Al Owais Creativity Award for Best Book by an Emirati Author in2017 and Healing through Music, published with the support of Abu DhabiMusic & Arts Foundation.
Alongside her artistic practice,Al Mazrouei leads workshops on the role of the arts in physical and mental wellbeing. She is the first certified Emirati trainer in movement therapy for women in sports clubs and works with therapeutic movement and dance to support emotional balance and mental performance.
Saif Al Naqbi
Oud
Saif Al Naqbi is an Emirati oud player trained at Bait AlOud in Abu Dhabi, part of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, under the mentorship of Dr Naseer Shamma, maestro and Arab oud master. He has performed across the UAE and internationally, contributing to the Emirati music and arts scene through his artistic practice.
Mubarak Al Dhaheri
Oud
Mubarak Al Dhaheri is an Emirati oud player from Abu Dhabi who began his musical journey in 2019, inspired by a family with deep roots in the tradition of the oud. Encouraged by his uncles, he discovered his passion for the instrument in childhood, a dream that led him to Bait Al Oud Abu Dhabi, founded by the renowned maestro Naseer Shamma. Under the guidance of exceptional teachers, Al Dhaheri has developed a style that draws from Arabic, Emirati, and global musical traditions.
He has performed at numerous local and international events, proudly representing the UAE and appearing in many Bait Al Oud concerts. Driven by a desire to honour his heritage, he aspires to become a distinguished oud player and contribute to the promotion of Emirati culture, giving back a small part of what his beloved country has given him.
